Alan Owings
Alan Owings was born and raised in the picturesque town of Rockwood, TN. With a passion for service and technology, Alan has carved a unique path through life.
His journey into the world of technology began early, marked by his tenure at Roannet, where he volunteered for three years, honing his skills and nurturing his innate curiosity for all things tech-related.
Currently, Alan is pursuing a comprehensive education in Computer Information Technology at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Crossville. Set to graduate in the fall of 2024, he’s already equipped with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Tennessee Tech University.
Certified by CompTIA with A+ and Network+ credentials, Alan is a technician with a keen eye for detail and a dedication to quality, evident in his certification from the American Society for Quality.
Yet, Alan’s commitment to service extends beyond the digital realm. Having served for 20 years in the Tennessee Army National Guard, he retired with the rank of Captain. His deployments included a significant stint in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom III, where he served as a Warrant Officer. In South Korea, he managed the operations of a simulation center, showcasing his leadership and strategic acumen.
Transitioning to civilian life, Alan seamlessly integrated his military expertise into his professional endeavors. At DynCorp, he operated simulators and trained troops on the intricacies of the M1 tank. Prior to that, he cut his teeth as a help desk technician at EDS, providing vital support for Toshiba laptops and desktops.
A proud member of the American Legion and VFW, Alan finds solace and camaraderie in these veteran communities. When he’s not immersed in technology or supporting his fellow veterans, Alan enjoys the simple pleasures of life—listening to music, delving into a good book, doting on his cat Mia, and taking leisurely strolls in nature.
