Hugh Willett
Hugh Willett is a native of East Tennessee that has worked as a writer, editor, and account manager for leading newspapers, magazines and public relations agencies. He began his career at newspapers including The Boston Globe and The Knoxville News-Sentinel before moving to Silicon Valley where he covered technology for magazines including High Tech Marketing and Electronic Business.
As Executive Editor for Electronic Buyers’ News and Editor in Chief of Electronic News –the newspaper that coined the term “Silicon Valley — he traveled the world filing award-winning stories from a dozen countries on four continents. As Director of Editorial Services for several leading public relations agencies, he provided communications consulting for Fortune 500 companies including Apple Computer, Alcatel, and Samsung Electronics. He founded Semiconductor Magazine for SEMI, the international trade organization representing computer chip producers, and traveled the world representing the organization.
Back in Knoxville, he wrote for the News Sentinel for 10 years winning writing and investigative reporting awards from Scripps-Howard, The Tennessee Press Association, and the Society of Professional Journalists. He most recently worked as Regional Editor for Landmark Community Newspapers managing editorial operations for three community newspapers including Roane County News.
